Designed for the "urban nomads" and their laptops

Although it may look it, this is not your typical laptop briefcase. This unique bag was designed by an engineer & management consultant specifically for the new mobile workforce; the professional that works anytime and anywhere, in coffee shops, museums, hotel lobbies, airports and occasionally at the client site, mostly paperless, and relies heavily on his/her laptop.

Max Laptop Size: The bag has room for a laptop up to 32.4cm x 23cm (good for most 14 inch laptops)

Classic, timeless, unisex design

Its luxury, minimalist, slim (5.5 cm), timeless and unisex design will look great in the boardroom on Mondays and dressed down with your favorite jeans on casual Fridays.

This briefcase is airport and bike friendly.  It's made of full grain vegetable tanned leather so it will last for many years to come and age gracefully throughout your career...just like you.

See the "Gallery" section below for more style photos.

Rigid structure

One of the main features of this briefcase is that it's built on a rigid structure which will protect the laptop inside but more importantly allow it to stand firmly upright on a dirty floor and take up minimal workspace on your table at the café.

Take it on two wheels

The bag is designed to be carried without a strap (using the handle) or with a strap; either on the side, across the body (messenger style) or on your back when cycling, motorcycling or scootering...oh and it also attaches to the handle of a suitcase.

Check out the 2 videos below; one for instructions on how to carry it (on your back) and the other to see the designer ride off on his café racer :-)

Purest Form of Leather - Tree Bark Tanning Process

This bag is made of the finest, strongest and purest form of full grain leather...VEGETABLE TANNED LEATHER.

The leather tanning technique used in creating veg tanned leather involves natural tannins from tree bark to alter the protein structure of the hide, causing it to become leather.  Vegetable tanning, is one of the oldest methods of tanning known to man; a process that takes us 3 months (compared to chrome tanning which takes one day).  Unlike most bags you find at your local mall which use chrome tanned leather, this is an eco-friendly process without the use of harmful chemicals nor colorants that can leak back into nearby water sources.

Warning!  Please note that the leather on our bag will be pale coming out of the box, but don't worry, it will darken and develop character (patina) over time, following you on your life's adventures.  See our video below on how to maintain and age/darken the leather (of course without the use of dyes).  Also, full grain/veg tanned leather will show various blemishes of the animal skin (such as scars, growth marks, horse fly bites, hair follicles) but again this is what you get from a natural finish without the plastic/synthetic coating that is common on chrome tanned leather.

Picture - The bag on the left is freshly out of the box and the other one is darker from sun & air exposure and one coat of leather conditioner (olive oil or mink oil) after 6 months of use.

Product storyline

Hello,

Please allow me to share with you how this product came to life.

In 2016, during an assignment in Abuja, I dropped my briefcase and damaged the laptop inside.  It was at this point that the search for a better laptop briefcase began that would suit my needs.

You see, as a consultant, I tend to work in various odd places such as coffee shops, airports, museums, hotel lobbies and occasionally at the client site for meetings. I needed a bag designed specifically to carry and protect a laptop, with a rigid interior structure enabling it to stand firmly upright on a dirty floor or take up little space on a coffee table, just thick enough to hold my ultraportable (5.5cm max) and some space for paper (but not much because my firm and projects are 100% paperless).  I wanted all this but in a classic/timeless look that would fit well in a formal and casual setting.

I scoured the internet and to my surprise could not find a bag with these basic features. I remember thinking that there are certainly others out there with the same laptop briefcase needs as I. So once back home in Ottawa (Canada) I drafted the concept drawings which marked the birth of the Maplefox Laptop Briefcase.

Five years and twelve prototypes later I sincerely believe to have the world's best and only compact, solid and elegant laptop briefcase designed for the new "mobile workforce”.

We hope you will enjoy this briefcase as much as I have developing it.
